Boil Water Order between Beede and Holt Roads

2021-11-10T12:14:29+00:00

There is a water main repair underway in Keene Valley and it affects residents in the area between Beede Road and Holt Road only. Homes in the section between Beede Road and Holt Road will need to boil water until we complete the repair and then get positive lab results. This will probably continue through Monday afternoon and we will notify you as soon as the boil water order is lifted.

Marcy Field Recreation Access

2021-11-01T01:29:50+00:00

The new parking lot to access the oval is done! Also, the portion of the walking trail along the perimeter of the field that floods has been improved. This project has been completed with the support of the town board, help from Scott Smith and the Highway Department, and the planning efforts of Marcy Neville, Peter Slocum, and the Recreation planning committee. The funding came from occupancy tax revenue dedicated to community improvement projects. The new parking area is off Rt 73 on the right as you pull in the main entrance to the field and oval. This parking area gives [...]

New Bridges on Old Mountain Road

2021-11-01T01:26:15+00:00

Thanks to the Ausable River Association, Barkeater Trails Alliance, and Vinny McClelland for designing, building, and funding the replacement of three culverts on the Old Mountain Road with new bridges. ASRA did the permitting and design, BETA constructed the bridges, and Vinny secured a grant from Patagonia while he was at the Mountaineer to pay for the upgrades. After coordinating the project, the only hands-on labor from the Town was board member Teresa Palen and Supervisor Wilson carrying one of the old, rusty culverts out of the woods and throwing it in the metal recycling bin. The new bridges are an [...]

Good news for Water District #1 Hamlet of Keene!

2021-11-01T01:20:22+00:00

FEMA approved our appeal for the water main repair in WD#1 for the storm damage from the 2019 Halloween Storm. This means we can submit our project and claim as soon as FEMA adds a Damage Line Inventory Item. As with all government funding, these things take time, however, we are eligible for the full cost of the repairs which came to just over $200,000.
