Town Update on April 8 Total Solar Eclipse

The town has taken the following steps to help manage the expected traffic on Eclipse Day.  No one knows exactly what the weather will be, or how many people will pass through Keene or stop to view the eclipse here, so we have tried to prepare as fully as possible. You can pick up free Eclipse Viewing glasses at the town hall. Marcy Field is our public viewing area.  Parking will be in the hiker parking lot off Airport Rd. Road Work: Chapel Pond Area

Starting today, March 6th, the DOT is installing temporary signals on Route 73 between Chapel Pond and Roaring Brook falls for emergency slope repairs. The signals will be there 24-7 for an estimated 3 weeks. The road will not be closed. It will be open to one-way alternating traffic.

The Town of Keene's recent Energy Benchmarking Report produced as part of Keene's ongoing participation in the NYSERDA Clean Energy Community Program is attached for public review. Benchmarking Report (pdf)   Details from NYSERDA: Communities that complete at least four high-impact actions earn initial Clean Energy Communities designation and are eligible to apply for grants to fund additional clean energy projects. Earn points for high-impact actions your community completes. The first cycle of Community Enhancement Fund awards is about to start.  If you have a project or program that may fit the goals of this grant, please consider applying.  We also need 2-3 community members to serve on the award committee.  If you are interested in serving on the award committee, please send a letter of interest to the town hall.  If you are interested in applying for a grant, please submit an application that includes a detailed description of the project and a detailed budget.  A final report with receipts, photos, and a brief write-up of the completed project will be [...]

UPDATE: 2024 Town Resource Guide Now Available!

The Town Resource Guide has been updated as of January 2024. Created by Keene's Age-Friendly Task Force, the Guide provides contact information (phone, web links, and/or street addresses) for local and nearby emergency, health care, social service, supportive housing, and many other programs and services useful for local seniors. New residents and tourists may also find the information helpful. The Guide can be printed in whole or part from the Town website and hard copies are available at the Keene and Keene Valley libraries, as well as Town Hall.
