Thanks to the Ausable River Association, Barkeater Trails Alliance, and Vinny McClelland for designing, building, and funding the replacement of three culverts on the Old Mountain Road with new bridges. ASRA did the permitting and design, BETA constructed the bridges, and Vinny secured a grant from Patagonia while he was at the Mountaineer to pay for the upgrades. After coordinating the project, the only hands-on labor from the Town was board member Teresa Palen and Supervisor Wilson carrying one of the old, rusty culverts out of the woods and throwing it in the metal recycling bin. The new bridges are an improvement for both the stream habitat and hikers/skiers.
